Postgraduate Scholarship Programme (UK)
Scholarship applications are now closed.
Candidates were invited to apply for full Master’s scholarship including tuition fees, monthly maintenance stipend and relocation costs.
Funding is provided primarily through the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC) Master’s and Shared Scholarships schemes. Windle Trust International (WTI) acts as a nominating partner for the CSC. By applying to WTI and successfully passing our selection process, candidates:
Receive support to apply to the CSC and UK universities
May be nominated by WTI to the CSC
What can I study?
All subject areas are eligible. Priority is typically given to fields that support the development of your country and community such as:
Education
Social Work
Development Studies
Public Health
Nutrition
Crop Science
Animal Science
Gender Studies
Renewable Energy
Climate Change
Development-related Law
Agroforestry and Food Security
English Language Education
Computer Science
Engineering
Where can I study?
Candidates may apply to UK universities participating in the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission schemes - this list is available in full here.
WTI strongly recommends applying to universities that do not charge an application fee. We have agreements in place for application fee waivers with some universities but this is not universal. Please email postgraduate@windle.org.uk to check if we can support an application fee waiver.
Please note, WTI will not pay university application fees under any circumstances.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
Have refugee status OR be a resident in specific areas in Kenya and Uganda
Have excellent English language skills
Hold a minimum grade equivalent to a British upper second (2:1) undergraduate degree
Have at least two years of relevant professional or volunteer experience

Selection process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview, either in your country of residence or online.
After this stage, successful candidates will receive:
Tailored guidance on completing CSC applications
Support with UK university applications
Final scholarship awards are made by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
