DAFI 2026 Scholarship Applications Open for Sudanese Refugees
Windle Trust International (WTI), in partnership with UNHCR, has opened applications for the 2026 cohort of the DAFI (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund) Scholarship Programme in Sudan.
The programme provides vital access to tertiary education for refugees, supporting study at universities, colleges, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across Sudan.
This year’s call for applications comes at a time of increasing global constraints on access to international education for Sudanese students. In this context, programmes such as DAFI play an increasingly important role in ensuring that refugees and displaced learners are still able to access higher education opportunities and continue their studies.
For the 2026/2027 academic year:
75 scholarships are available for university and college students
50 scholarships are available for TVET programmes
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be registered refugees residing in Sudan
Be enrolled in, or hold an admission offer from, a recognised higher education or TVET institution in Sudan
Hold a Sudanese Secondary School Certificate or equivalent qualification

Female candidates are encouraged to apply, and priority will be given to students in their first or second year of study.
