South Sudan’s independence did not bring conflict to an end. WTI works to ensure that hundreds of thousands of children do not miss out on their educations due to the ongoing instability and fragility.

Sudan has been in active civil war since April 2023, but WTI’s presence here extends back to 1999. The provision of education – whether at secondary, post-secondary or university level – is one way of inspiring hope in the future despite the anxieties of the present.

Education has been a priority in Somaliland’s post-conflict recovery, but the sector still suffers from underinvestment and limited resources. As we build and develop in Somaliland, we aim to support education at all levels.

WTI have been supporting Postgraduate education in the UK since the 1970s. As our flagship programme, the Postgraduate Programme continues this longstanding tradition. We now have over 600 alumni returned to East Africa, contributing to peace building and civic leadership.
